Sahibganj

This location is also a pre historic place inhabited by the tribal people from several year ago, the name of this place evoked as Sahibganj because of the British reign and the white people who dwelled here as masters, therefore, Sahib means Master and Ganj means place and explains the meaning as the ‘place of masters’. The town of sahibganj is the district headquaters which is spread over an area of 1,549 sq.km the population are mostly Paharias , Mal Paharias and Santhals tribes , these people are great skilled workers in carpentry,handloom weaving, rope making, earthenware, and stoneware making will be their main occupation in their routine. This landscape adds more value because of its location near the River Ganges which is consider to be the holistic river in India, the other importance of history will be the Bhagwa Kuan the memorial for Edward V11 built in the year 1815 carries the historical values here. Later this district did formed the Rajmahal and Pakur Sub-divisions of Old Santhal Pargana District. Mainly this region is isolated from the state because of improper road facilities there are no industrial growth happened here.

Teliagarhi Fort
