Giridih During the year 1972 it was announced as the district headquarters carving out from the existing Hazaribagh district, this landscape is spread over an area of 4,853 sq.km, this district is a plateau terrain, forest around and appears as tableland at a helicopter view. The forest consist of wildlife living such as leopards, bears, jackals, foxes, pigs, hares, variety of deer and creeping reptiles and lizards. Rijubalika Jain Temple Located 12 km from the district headquarters near the Barakar village on the banks of Barakar, here you have the sacred feet of Bhagwan Mahavir Swami the deity’s image is being worshipped in this Rijubalika Jain Temple. Khandoli Park This spot is situated just 8 km from the district headquarters and it is famous for its water reservoir which provides boating, rock climbing, parasailing, kayaking elephant and camel rides, this is a wonderland for picnic celebrations. Devari Here you have the oldest temple of Goddess Durga which dates back 11th century, a historical monument that expresses human inhabitants those days at this region. Khandoli This spot consist of a water reservoir at a distance of 8 km to the northeast of Giridih district headquarters, wherein provides a variety of amusements to the visitors such as water related adventure sporting and bird watching, the 600 ft. hillock and a watch tower explicit an eagle’s view through these regions, moreover, elephant and camel rides are the added attraction along with the routine boating , rock-climbing, Parasailing and Kayaking…living in nature is always living with honour…!comes true… Madhuban Jainism where one of the ancient beliefs among Indians, as a proof this location has a old Jain temple which dates back to 2000 years ago; being situated 25 km from the district headquarters the spot enhances great ritual values of Jainism in this museum, the grand old scriptures of Jain, idols, and manuscripts are exhibited here for reality. The nearby landmarks are the Samosharan and Bhomiyaji Jain temples. Parasnath Hill This is a hill station location positioned to a height of 4431 ft above sea level is accessible via road, this spot is said to be the hill deity of the tribal people and today it has been announced as the wildlife sanctuary to this region. The important communal symbol Langta Baba Mazar’ is present here although the years that fills in harmonious living amidst the tribes. Jharkhandi Dham People of the state Jharkhand gather here annually to celebrate fairs and festivals , the uniqueness to this spot is buildings without roofs and this is a pilgrim centre where people share their love and worship to themselves and to their Gods’. Harihar Dham This is a hamlet located near Bagodar on the G.T. road at a distance of 60 km from the district headquarters.
