Garhwa This district was been bifurcated from Palamau district in the year 1991, the town of Garhwa is the district headquarters and this district is spread over an area of vast land space surrounded by some forest region of 40 %, the temperature seems to be dry and bracing yet this spot of forest around produces timber, firewood, fodder etc; and the fauna includes elephants , leopards, hyena, jackal, fox, deer, boar, rabbit , monkey and dear too…this region is bounded by the river Sone , Palamau district, Chhatisgarh and Uttar Pradesh as the neighbouring places. Agriculture will be the major occupation to the people here which procures healthy economy to this region; the major crops are rice, maize, wheat, sugarcane, oilseeds, pulses and vegetables. Gulgulpath- is daid to be th second highest peak in Jharkhand stand to a height of 3819 ft. flows in some major river across this land such as the River Sone and Koyal are the major water resources to the district, there are some streams that hisses through these landscape too… the Garhdevi Mandir and Vanshidhar Temple are the important serene locations in this district. Thus, Garhwa exclaims that man is still living in nature is the nature of every living thing in this world… Places of tourist interest Ketar Goddess Bhagawati is the deity being worshipped by the people of Ketar, this location is a worthy spot of visit with great architectural values in it. Nagar-Untari The Radha Krishna Mandir is a famous spot of visit here; the fame is because of the golden idols which are worshipped here. Kanjia Located 70 km from the district headquarters you have a spiritual serene location of Christian belief The Catholic Ashram which dates back to 1937 is a monument to this 21st century. Sukhaldari This is located on the banks of the river Kanahar in Dhuraki, such a beautiful environment of nature and its pleasure is filled in here with a gorgeous waterfalls, nearby there are some more waterfalls such as Parasdiha fall in Bhawanathpur which is 50 km from the district headquarters and Gursandhu fall in Ranka will be a splendid spots of visit indeed. Raja Pahari Here you have Lord Shiva temple for worship, this spot is also a blessed landscape by nature and its marvel around. Saruat Pahar This is a location on the highest side of the peak where you have the Korba tribe is dwelling. This spot of exuberance has the Hisatu fall which could be the starting point of the Haraiya river form here. Being the highest peak over the state this location is sumptuous on scenic attraction with raw wildlife living in the jungle. How to get there The district is well connected with Railways and Roadways that links nearby towns and cities.
