Dhanbad

During the year 1956 this district was formed slicing out from the old Dhanbad sub-division, Chas and Chandankiyari of the Sadar subdivision of the previous Manbhum district. This region is basically a hill terrain with a lot of thick green forest and plains spread out to an area of 2995 sq.km the major water irrigation sources from the Damodar River and the Barakar River that flows in for healthy cultivation through these flat lands. This location is about 500 – 1000 ft above sea level makes us feel the climatic aspects so chill and humid throughout the year. Dhanbad is the district headquarters bounded by Giridih, Bokaro, Dumka and the Purulia districts of the West Bengal.

Charak Pathar

This is a village with a smooth rocky ancient boulder of white stone from which its name is been derived.

Chati Gobindpur

You have the major two pillars that carry the ancient values of the Emperor Asoka and the Afgan Chief Sher Shah. This spot reveals the ancient invasions of man to these lands of nature and bliss.

Gopalpur

This spot even speaks about the ancient invasion of the great emperor Asoka , wherein , the memories that expresses through the ancient pillar  erected during the periods of Askoka and the huge stone image is that still exist as witnesses.

Jhinjhipahari

This is another location blessed with nature’s raw materials and minerals such as lime stone and coal, the erstwhile usual work nature of this people is mines digging in this region which have made an identity of the ancient temple of Lord Shiva and it are still a monument and a worship spot here.

Panrra

This location again speaks about the old epics periods of Pandavas reign, it is said that when Pandavas was on exile for a period they have spent their fortune of survival here therefore the name of this place is named as Panrra. An ancient Shiva temple is here which is renowned as Pandeweshar Mahadev.

Chark-Khurd

This spot is noted for its summer and hot spring seasons.

Topchanchi

The water reservoir will be an ideal location to picnic and the nearby Parasnath Hill station will be an up country location for flora and fauna visits.

Maithon

Located 48 km from the district headquarters you have this Dam and the Hydel Power station. Panchet is another well known Dam around here as a picnic spot for the tourists.

The district is well connected with roadways and railways that link to various parts of the country. The nearest airport is at Ranchi.
